A&R Solar has experience installing and/or supervising over 150 renewable energy systems in the greater Seattle area. Below are some examples of our recent work.
Zero Energy Idea House
W. Lake Sammamish, Bellevue, WA
When first contacted, the Shirey's were considering a 2.4 kilowatt sized system. By designing with the most efficient and power dense solar module on the market (SunPower), we were able to install a full 5.4 kW system. You can see in our pictures that the array fit perfectly on the available roof designed to capture the sun's rays. Take note of the living roof too. Not only does this site manage its energy, but through restorative landscaping, a living roof, and rainwater catchment the Shirey's are preventing runoff from entering beautiful Lake Sammammish below..

Evacuated Tube Solar Hot Water System
Seattle, Washington
Another example of a Seattle home switching from traditional power to renewable energy! This 30-Tube Thermomax Mazdon system will offset approximately 60-70% of the home's annual water heating. Pipes were run within the walls of the house using SolFlex stainless steel piping, preserving the aesthetics of the exterior. Additionally, conduit was installed while the walls were open to accommodate a future PV system.

The Seattle Aquarium Solar Project
Solar Assisted Hot Water System
In an on-going effort to rebuild a healthy Puget Sound and maintain green practices, the Seattle Aquarium installed flat-plate solar thermal collectors to heat water for the Aquarium Cafe. The system will offset about 2.5 tons of CO2 on an annual basis and serve as a public reminder for the viability of solar energy here in the Pacific Northwest. The project was made possible with funding by Seattle City Light and Puget Sound Energy, with monitoring provided by the Bonneville Environmental Foundation and FatSpaniel.

Fall City Elementary School's PV Array
This small system will be producing something more valuable than electricity for years to come: Knowledge. A&R Solar and Peak Electric volunteered their labor to help Fall City Elementary School install this solar PV system, which will serve as a demonstration for their new curriculum on solar energy. In addition to learning how solar energy systems work, their children and community will benefit from seeing firsthand that solar does in fact work in the Pacific Northwest.

2.0 kW Photovoltaic System
Seattle, Washington
Like many of our customers, these folks simply wanted to reduce their carbon footprint by using the sun's energy to generate their own electricity. The return on investment, immediate increase in home value, and hedge against rising energy costs were added reasons for going solar. The process was smooth from start to finish, including working with their Homeowner's Association to approve the project.

1.05 kW Enphase Solar PV Array
Seattle, Washington
A&R Solar is proud to feature its first Enphase Micro-inverter system on the new Footprint at the Bridge in Seattle. In addition to offsetting a significant portion of each unit's electricity demand, each homeowner will be able to monitor his or her system on-line, in real time, thanks to the Enphase Enlighten per-module monitoring service.

5.6 kW PV & 30-Tube Solar Hot Water
Seattle, Washington
Simply put, a beautiful display of solar energy here in Seattle. This customer understands the need for clean, renewable energy and is now doing more than his fair share in contributing positively to our community and our planet. In addition to his new A&R Solar energy system, he installed a boiler from Northwest Mechanical, making his home even more energy efficient.

90 Evacuated Tubes - Solar Hot Water
Issaquah, Washington
This customer was mostly concerned with using solar to heat his home during the winter, so we tilted his collectors to take advantage of the low winter sun. Despite the added tilt, this system will still offset around 100% of his hot water needs during the summer.

Solar Hot Water with Boiler Tie-in
Maury Island, Vashon, Washington
This customer’s main goal was to reduce his propane consumption, and he is now doing so with the help of solar energy. We were able to attach a 30-tube collector without penetrating his roof and then tied-in to his boiler for an estimated offset of over 100 gallons of propane a year! Working on his roof was a pleasure, thanks to the mild weather and beautiful views.

Heliodyne Flat-plate Collectors
Solar Hot Water w/ Radiant Tie-in
Seattle, Washington
Talk about green! This Seattle home is using solar to heat their domestic water and assist with the heating of their radiant flooring. This house also incorporates a living roof, which will continue to flourish thanks to the low impact of our custom rack mount.

Solar Hot Water w/ Tankless Heater
Duvall, Washington
This builder continues his lifelong journey to live lightly on the land. He built this site harvested, hand-hewn, log home, and
has since created grey water-fed bogscapes, made green and energy efficiency upgrades, and now is using
this Apricus thermal collector to heat the home's water supply. He also has Takagi on-demand water heater
that works in conjunction with his new solar hot water system.

2.8 kW PV & 20-Tube Hot Water
Renton, Washington
This PV system utilizes 18 Sharp ND-162U1F panels to offset the home's usage of utility-based. They've
also incorporated a Thermomax Mazdon solar hot water collector to offset their natural gas consumption.
This customer is reducing their footprint by making strong conservation efforts in conjunction
with installing both Solar Hot Water and PV!
